2018 Honda Accord Hybrid

In an era where energy efficiency is a top priority for drivers everywhere, we knew we had to make a big impact with the release of this year’s hybrid models. This is one challenge that we were happy to live up to, as the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid effortlessly blends sleek sophistication and optimal efficiency in one attractive package that will certainly be hard to beat.

Upgraded Features and Much, Much More

The most immediate change you’ll notice when you look at the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid is the new look. This tenth generation model, when compared with what came before it, is not only lower and wider than its predecessors, but also lighter and more rigid at the same time. But don’t let that new look fool you – performance is still our top priority, as evidenced by the new 1.5 and 2.0-liter turbocharged engines (depending on the trim level). This marks the first time that an Accord has ever been equipped with boosted engines.

We also paid attention to consumer criticism of hybrid vehicles – particularly that the battery takes up too much trunk room – and put a more advanced, more compact IPU (“intelligent power unit”) under the rear floor instead of in the trunk as is true with competitors. Not only will it NOT take up any unnecessary room, but you probably won’t even realize it’s there to begin with.

The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid also comes complete with “Normal” and “Sport” settings, which allows drivers to either ramp up or ramp down the “sporting potential” of the car as needed. Keep in mind that this is all done virtually, as the car itself doesn’t have an “actual” transmission – something that makes the model all the more impressive.

Speaking of impressive, the interior of the 2018 model has also seen a redesign. It features a terrific new 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen infotainment system, which itself sits next to a 7-inch driver’s meter. Rounding things out are the wider and more deeply padded front and rear arm rests, a new high-accuracy seat padding system with variable firmness and pillars that are 20% narrower and relocated to the rear behind the driver’s seating position.

All told, we have certainly been doing our homework and the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid is absolutely the product of that innovation and engineering. The complete 2018 lineup will consist of no less than 12 trim lines, all of which will be available in the upcoming months.

Honda Lanewatch

When it comes to road safety, even the most careful drivers are only as good as their vehicles allow them to be. Traditional cars have a number of disadvantages that make them vulnerable to accidents. Chief among these are the blind spots on both sides of the car, which prevent drivers from seeing other vehicles or cyclists through their mirrors. Such blind spots significantly increase the risk of a crash, as even skilled, defensive drivers have trouble seeing the danger until it is too late. Honda’s new LaneWatch system fills in this visual gap, allowing drivers to detect potential risks and keep themselves safe.

When it comes to making sustainable vehicles, automakers face a dilemma. On the one hand, consumers are increasingly less willing to buy cars with low levels of fuel efficiency. On the other, raising fuel economy standards often requires compromising performance. Honda’s new Econ button evades this problem by allowing users to switch between sustainable and high-performance modes. Available on most models, it captures the best of both worlds for Honda users.
